Big News for the Royal George Theatre!
Big News for the Royal George Theatre!
Cue the spotlight! With $35 million in provincial funding announced yesterday, the revitalization of the Royal George Theatre in Niagara-on-the-Lake is officially moving forward — and Unity is proud to be leading the design.
Our firm has a rich history with the Shaw Festival, an over 50-year relationship since the opening of the Festival Theatre. Together, we’ve shaped the spaces where world-class performances come to life. We’re honoured to be part of this legacy — and excited to see the curtain rise on a bold new chapter for the Festival.

This is a moment to celebrate, and a powerful reminder of how essential public investment is to our cultural institutions. Like many in the sector, Shaw is a not-for-profit that relies on grants to turn vision into reality. These projects are rooted in passion but made possible by funding — and this is where we thrive.
As leaders in collaborative design and construction, Unity brings deep experience navigating the complex journey from funding announcement to final performance. That means we’re already a step ahead — fully aligned with Shaw’s timeline and requirements, and ready to ensure the Royal George Theatre remains a source of inspiration for generations to come.
