Located at Lang Pioneer Village Museum, this 11,600- sq.ft. project was conceived to fill a number of roles for the County of Peterborough. The building provides a permanent home for the Peterborough County Agricultural Hall of Fame; houses the agricultural society’s permanent collection of historical farming implements; a conservation laboratory and workshop to repair, restore/preserve looms, steam engines, and horse-drawn wagons; and finally, a great hall to allow for regular society meetings, community events, awards banquets, wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Designed to respect the exterior aesthetics of an early 20th century barn, the cedar cladding on the exterior of the barn will remain untreated allowing it to age naturally, reminiscent of the hundreds of barns scattered across the County. The interior exudes a more contemporary aesthetic, speaking to the museum component of the project. Despite the rustic exterior appearance, the envelope is designed to provide high-performance thermal control and fire protection expected by the Canadian Conservation Institute.
