We Offer Inclusive Design Services!

Did you know Unity also offers inclusive design services? In addition to in-house accessibility and inclusivity support for all of our projects, we can provide accessibility reports outlining current areas of concern and suggesting ways to improve accessibility, Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification Ratings, accessibility consulting for external projects, and detailed reviews of projects following higher standards for inclusive design to ensure compliance.

Meaningful access considers the experience of people with disabilities from the point of arrival to the use of the services and spaces in the building. Our communities should be functional, usable, enjoyable, and safe for everyone, and we are committed to doing what we can to make this a reality.

Meet Amanda and Rachel, Unity's inclusive design team. Amanda is a registered Architect in the province of Ontario with over 10 years of experience, a designated Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification Professional™. She served on the City of Peterborough’s Accessibility Advisory Committee for eight years, including three as Chair, and on the Built Environment Sub-Committee for six years. As a person who is deaf, she has lived experience with disability and was a service dog handler for eight years.

Rachel is an ARIDO Interior Design Intern who is passionate about designing inclusive, aging-friendly and mind-friendly environments. She combines her knowledge of materials and finishes with an understanding of how to apply them in a way that enhances the accessibility of spaces.
