Who Kristy is
Kristy has been at the helm of Unity's administration since 2010, bringing with her a varied and accomplished background that spans banking to co-partnership in a midwifery practice. Her deep expertise in governance is evident from her roles as treasurer and vice-president of the Association of Ontario Midwives, a board director for Northumberland Hills Hospital, and as past chair of the board for Five Counties Children’s Centre.
Outside the professional realm, Kristy cherishes time spent hiking and skiing with her husband and two daughters. Her personal moments are often filled with cooking, fitness routines, and diving into a good book.
“Companies are like icebergs, most of the important stuff happens beneath the surface.”
What Kristy Does
Kristy is the “easel that holds the art.” As a Principal, Kristy serves as the robust framework supporting the firm's creative endeavours. She oversees internal policies and administration, becoming the main point of contact for financial, accounting, and legal matters. Kristy spearheads human resources, collaborates with post-secondary co-op departments, and manages the benefits program. Furthermore, she plays a pivotal role in upholding Unity's commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility, stewarding the B Corp certification process, and diligently overseeing the Green Economy Peterborough membership and emissions reporting.
Why Kristy Does it
Kristy holds the conviction that the foundation of any successful business lies in its efficient administration. To her, a seamlessly managed company not only guarantees longevity and stability but also fosters enduring client relationships. She views this operational excellence as pivotal, as it indirectly shapes the caliber of architecture produced. Kristy's dedication to this ethos drives her to consistently ensure that the inner workings of the company are as artfully constructed as the external projects it undertakes.
Giving
To fulfill our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, every member of the Unity team has chosen an organization that aligns with their personal values and purpose. Unity has made a donation on behalf of each team member to their chosen organization.
Why Kristy chose: Five Counties Children’s Centre
“I choose to support the Five Counties Children’s Centre (FCCC) for their dedication to working with families and community partners to provide innovative evidence-based care for children and youth with physical, developmental, and communication needs: building their independence and enriching their quality of life. Our family, like so many others in this community, has seen first-hand what a difference Five Counties Children’s Centre can make in the lives of kids and their families. As Chair of the Board of Directors, I work diligently on behalf of the Centre and encourage giving whenever and wherever I can.”
